City of Split
Split is the second largest city in the Republic of Croatia and the largest Croatian city on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. Bordered by mountains, Mosor to the northeast and Kozjak to the northwest, it is located between the rivers Žrnovnica to the east and Jadra to the north, plunging westward into the sea with its peninsular part, where the Marjan forest stands out, and crossing over to the island of Čiovo. As many as 15 kilometers of seaside promenades ideally connect with the cobblestone streets of the old town, spreading the spirit of the Mediterranean. The center of the city is Diocletian's Palace, which was built from 295 to 305 by the Roman emperor - reformer Gaius Valerius Aurelius Diocletian.
